On February 26th, 2020, the Danube Delta Sustainable Development Association, together with the Ministry of Public Works, Development and Administration of Romania, signed a Grant Contract of the project “VOCALIC – Valorising cultural identity and common history for tourism development in Lower Danube border area” 2SOFT/2.1/150 funded by the European Union in the framework of the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020.
The Lead partner of the project is Danube Delta Sustainable Development Association (Tulcea, Romania), the partners are Youth Public Organization “New European Generation” (Izmail, Ukraine) and Chilia Veche Municipality (Tulcea county, Romania).
The project was developed within the priority 2.1 of the Programme “Preservation and promotion of the cultural and historical heritage”. The general objective of the project is restore joint cultural heritage and identity of Romanian and Ukrainian people in lower Danube cross-border area for tourism development.
The specific objectives of the project are:
1. Developing and promoting common immaterial cultural heritage: traditional music, dance, crafts and gastronomy;
2. Raising awareness in the Lower Danube region about historical heritage and its importance for tourism;
3. Strengthen the Romanian and Ukrainian cross-border cooperation for promoting cultural and historical tourism in the Lower Danube area.
Total budget of the project is 539 238.00 Euro (of which 484 758.00 is EU contribution). The budget Youth Public Organization “New European Generation” is 202 608.00 Euro.
